@Jklamo just want to check in, appears you may be using your account for (semi)automated editing on wikidata, if you are using the API it will break unless you configure botpasswords or an oauth consumer. Some projects explicitly ask to increase their threshold for auto-confirmation, generally large projects with active communities (as jawiki would be). We are not looking to bypass their decisions with what is meant to be a flag for certain accessibility reasons. Hello again, Xaosflux! To be clear, I'm not trying to game autoconfirmed on a wiki that's passed edit count requirements, I'm sure I'll get to that point eventually. I'm just trying not to be encumbered by a spam-protection measure, which should be acceptable under the suggestions provided by the CAPTCHA exemptions policy/guideline. Not done while originally built as simply spam-protection, some large projects have expended the use of this to include other basic controls - these projects generally also have resources to combat vandalism. Temporary global interface admin rights for Christoph Jauera (WMDE)

I'm working as software developer for the WMDE Technical Wishes project. As result of one of our projects we want to change a gadget setting on some wikis. For that task it would be helpful to get the corresponding rights temporarily so that we don't depend on a third party. See task T355312. - In theory it would be sufficient for 24h I guess, but maybe it also make sense to cover a week so that we're able to react, when users want to revert the setting shortly after. Hi there, I'd like to request abuse filter helper. As a quick introduction to who I am, I've been around a pretty long time. I was active back around 2008-2012 (I've been a global rollbacker since 2010, and was a global sysop from 2010-2012 until I voluntarily resigned due to decreased activity). After years of only the occasional edit, I've recently become regularly active again, and I've been experimenting with using the abuse filter as part of my cross-wiki patrolling. CAPTCHA exemption for The Squirrel Conspiracy

I'm an admin on Commons and work heavily in closing DRs. CommonsDelinker has been down since the 15th and has periodically gone down before, so I've been using the justReplace script to perform global replacements under my own account, ahead of deleting duplicates and copyvios. Unfortunately, the script breaks (stops the entire replace, doesn't just bypass that one page/project) whenever it needs to replace a file on a project that requires a CAPTCHA, so I'd like to be able to bypass them. --The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 05:03, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi all, I often use Twinke to rollback vandalism on several wikis, and in the process, I am sometimes prevented from smooth rollback by CAPTCHA annoyingly; for instance, on zhwiki, nowiki, itwiki and cawiki most recently, and you can find my edits using "undo" feature to enter the CAPTCHA on some of them. I think it should be fine to grant this flag to users that are active xwiki and who are obviously humans. The CAPTCHA is meant to prevent spambots/non-humans, and this right doesn't give an protection-bypass access. – Ajraddatz (talk) 19:25, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
I'm more conservative on these, not to the point of "not done"'ing it though. My general view is that this is a patch for editors that can't solve captchas, not that just don't want to. If you want to grant I'm not going to fight it. — xaosflux Talk 11:11, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
I definitely take a bit of a more liberal view - I think if someone is actively encountering these multiple times/days per week, they aren't the intended target and it's a nuisance that I can fix with two seconds of work. I am requesting a re-unblock of my user account Sbb across all Wikimedia projects. My January 2023 unblock (of English WP, at least) recently expired. I frequently am using and editing projects from open wifi access points (coffee shops, libraries, etc.), and for safe internet browsing I use VPN software to control my DNS, search, and general HTTP traffic.

I primarily edit English WP, but I periodically need to edit English Wikisource, Wiktionary, and Commons as well.

Merely not wanting to comply with No open proxies is not an exceptional cause. WMF projects all make use of SSL, so you could still configure your client to route non-ssl and dns elsewhere (or use secure dns). Dear community, here I am asking for global rollback rights. I feel confident enough with rollback on projects where I already possess it (sl, en, simple, wd, commons). I am mostly fighting against xwiki spam or xwiki lta, with whom I have plenty of experience (also making regular requests to SRG), sometimes I use SWViewer, but I prefer using TwinkleGlobal. I requested CAPTCHA exemption in the past, in belief creating local accounts on wikis would solve me problem of not triggering AbuseFilters or CAPTCHAs I've withdrawn it, but sadly it has not solved all problem while removing spam from certain wikis. I believe GR rights would be beneficial to me at these wikis. Thanks for any input,--A09 (talk) 22:21, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi everyone. I'm Hide on Rosé, orginally known as Vanhdeeptryy and Tryvix1509. Currently I'm a eliminator at vi.wikipedia and a global rollbacker. Previously I served as a VRT member (info-vi and permissions). I would like to help at local request for username change at viwiki, and therefore I’m requesting for the global renamer right. Per Administration page, viwiki has 3 global renamers, but Alphama has resignated as a sysop, so he is less active on viwiki request page; Trần Nguyễn Minh Huy's right has been removed due to inactivity. NhacNy2412 is the only active user on viwiki, but not very often, because she is also busy writing new articles, editing and doing other maintenance tasks. Therefore, I would like to be granted this right in order to help, not only at viwiki but also all Wikimedia communities. My language knowledge: vi-N, en-3, ko-0.
