Laurence Turner is a British Labour Party politician and trade unionist, who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Birmingham Northfield since 2024.[1]
Turner was born to two Nottingham teachers.[2] He worked as a parliamentary assistant in the House of Commons.[3] Since 2017, he worked at the GMB union, as head of research and policy.[4][3]
Turner was selected as the candidate for Birmingham Northfield at short notice at the beginning of the 2024 general election campaign, when existing candidate Alex Aitken had to step down for "personal reasons".[2]
