Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

Inspire CentralNotice in Ukrainian

Hi,

Could anyone please publish the Inspire CentralNotice in Ukrainian (CNBanner:Inspire knowledge-inspireknowledge-text1/uk and CNBanner:Inspire knowledge-inspirehar-text2/uk)? It has been reviewed more than a week ago but we still keep seeing the text in English. Thanks — NickK (talk) 09:25, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have published them twice now: log, but for some reason the messages are not changed from English to Ukrainian? Stryn (talk) 09:42, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Worked for me. --Base (talk) 20:35, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ah or not, the one for which I published is the Inspire know banner, not Inspire knowledge. Looking into it, though the knowledge one is now disabled it seems. --Base (talk) 20:41, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
There's indeed something strange, as I have marked the Finnish CNBanners as published as well, but the texts are still shown in English. Stryn (talk) 13:43, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Which banner? --Base (talk) 20:35, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Special:Translate/Centralnotice-tgroup-inspire_knowledge. The Finnish banner should be "published", but just now I still see it in English in wikt:fi:. And yes, the interface language is in Finnish for me there. Stryn (talk) 20:40, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
By the way are you sure you don't see the Inspire know banner? Inspire knowledge campaign seems to be sisabled since 31 of January if I am not misreading those hard to grasp CN logs. --Base (talk) 20:44, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oh I see Inspire know has link to Inspire knowledge banner translation that must have caused the commotion, heh. --Base (talk) 20:47, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well this is what I see: [1] (screenshot uploaded to snag.gy). Stryn (talk) 20:51, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ukrainian and Suomi should be fine now I want to believe, I've copypasted the translation for the latter one. But there are still like two dozen of other languages with the same problem meh meh meh. --Base (talk) 20:56, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the help. I wonder who's idea was to create 2 different banners (or same, I don't understand anymore) with the same texts... Stryn (talk) 20:58, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I JethroBT (WMF)'s probably. --Base (talk) 21:01, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hey folks. The English text for the current banner actually lives at CNBanner:Inspire_know-inspire_know-text1/en and CNBanner:Inspire_know-inspire_know-text2/en, so any translations should go to those. The actual banner is this one Special:CentralNoticeBanners/Edit/Inspire_know. The old banner I created (Special:CentralNoticeBanners/Edit/inspire_knowledge) was not playing nicely with new translations; I cloned it from the previous campaign on addressing harassment. I cloned it because some of the messaging was the same and figured it would be good to preserve those translations. The problem was that new translations weren't being recognized across many languages, and I got complaints about translations not appearing even when they were done, and so I pulled the banner. Jseddon (WMF) and I were trying to work out exactly how to fix it, but it became very clear that starting over fresh and putting in old translations manually was going to be easier than fixing the existing banner. The old banner (Special:CentralNoticeBanners/Edit/inspire_knowledge) and its components can be deleted at this point. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:25, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Base: FYI I found CentralNotice/Request#Central_Notice_Admin_comments_5 if you are not aware. Stryn (talk) 21:20, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't aware. Oh it is just wonderful. Not only we have several dozens of misplaced translations because of the wrong link but some of them are characterized as bizarre.. I guess I will move all the translations anyway, if some of them are found to be bad they can be deleted, though the situation really sucks :/ --Base (talk) 21:26, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see so the problems were technical, that is ok then. I was afraid it was a comment about translations quality. I am going on then with clear conscience. --Base (talk) 21:29, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. Sorry about the trouble, and thanks for calling my attention to it. Seddon and I have agreed that standard language for these campaigns going ahead will be better so these sorts of translation issues can be avoided. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:33, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've moved I think all the translations from the old banner, approved those where first message was translated. I am done with this, if someone wants to approve some more they are welcome :) --Base (talk) 22:10, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Protected edit request on 14 February 2017 – Talk:Spam blacklist/Archives/2007-08

I want to correct the invalid HTML tags <span/> and <br/> in Talk:Spam blacklist/Archives/2007-08 to remove this page from Category:Pages using invalid self-closed HTML tags. An administrator can do this too. Thanks for a reply to. --Plagiat (talk) 02:08, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Maybe an admin can work off Category:Pages using invalid self-closed HTML tags, because the remaining pages are protected. --Plagiat (talk) 02:28, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Users have been informed about invalid tags in their scripts. --Plagiat (talk) 17:12, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Frank Dambe

I have just blanked user:Frank Dambe and received a vandalism warning for my pains. If I had seen the page on Wikipedia I would have zapped it instantly as a fake article. If you allow such here on meta, feel free to revert my edit. RHaworth (talk) 12:34, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@RHaworth: hi, the page was deleted by Tegel. Where did you receive the warning?, I don't see any warning on your talk page.--Syum90 (talk) 11:34, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Probably this and this abuselog entries. Better put {{Delete}} for that in the future. — regards, Revi 11:42, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks revi, probably he is referring to these warnings. As revi says it's better to add the template {{Delete}} instead of blanking the page in order to avoid activating a filter. Regards.--Syum90 (talk) 11:57, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

User:ArdiPras95

Perhaps an admin might want to look closer at recent activity of this user on Steward requests/Global, especially his "archiving" actions. --jdx Re: 08:53, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

They've reverted themself, so there is nothing to do. -Barras talk 17:01, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
