Hi, according to the amount of vandalism from this range I prolonged the global block for 1 year. Thanks for information. masti <talk> 19:22, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Masti: many thanks! I will check for remaining vandalisms, on several projects. --NicoScribe (talk) 21:59, 15 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Commond deletion bot requirements

[edit]

I'm contacting you because you supported the Commons Deletion Bot proposal in the 2017 Community Wishlist. The Wishlist team has finalized the draft specifications for how the bot will work, and are seeking review in confirming or discussing the plans for the bot. If you have some time, please take a look and leave a comment. Thanks, happy editing to you. - Keegan (WMF) (talk) 19:06, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Outcome of SRG report

[edit]

Hey NicoScribe - thank you for your report at SRG, and apologies its taken a while to be addressed. I've closed it as not done with the following comment:

Having read this and extracted the implicitly reported IP addresses (95.26.124.172, 176.59.32.149, 176.59.54.46), none are yet to edit this month extensively and do not warrant global blocks at this time. I fully appreciate the spirit of the report NicoScribe, and it's something we're interested in working with you to resolve! Could you email us at stewards@wikimedia.org, so we can have a conversation about how to deal with this effectively? Thank you for your hard work, it's really appreciated, and we hope to hear from you soon

We really would appreciate having a discussion about how to deal with this cross-wiki LTA - you're very knowledgable about them, and there's definitely things we can do to help stop their abuse. Please let me know if you have any questions, and you can email us using this form - TNT 💖 13:20, 14 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello @There'sNoTime: thank you. I have just sent the mail about this case (described in Steward requests/Global/2018-05#Global block for 95.26.0.0/16, Steward requests/Global/2018-06#Global block for_176.14.97.190, Steward requests/Global/2018-06#Global block for 95.26.19.213 and Steward requests/Global#Global block for 95.26.124.172). Commons deletion notification bot

[edit]

Greetings,

You are receiving this message because you supported the Commons deletion notification bot in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey.

Commons deletion notification bot is ready to be deployed to any Wikimedia wiki that wishes to use it. If your community is interested in the bot, you can leave a request on the project page on meta-wiki. The bot messages are available for translation on translatewiki.net, as part of preparing the bot for release.

Thank you for your participation in the Wishlist. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 17:29, 16 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Community Wishlist Survey

[edit]

Hi,

You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Affiliate-selected Board seats process welcomes your support

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because you are active in the field of translations <3 The movement needs you! The Nominations phase has started for the ongoing selection process of two Board members, and the timeline is quite tight.

A Translation Central is available to help translators figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome.

While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), you can also add others. If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :) Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 13:20, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

User script to view subcategories

[edit]

Hi NicoScribe,

If you remember, you participated in the 2019 Community Wishlist Survey, including the discussion for a button to easily view subcategories (Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Categories/Button to show subcategories).

I sent you this MassMessage because I wanted to let you know that I have made a user script to do this.

If you are interested in using it, just add mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:DannyS712/Subcategories.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); to your global javascript page, or to your wiki-specific common.js page. This imports the code at m:User:DannyS712/Subcategories.js.

If you want to learn more, there is documentation for the script available at w:en:User:DannyS712/Subcategories. If you would like to discuss the script, talk to me at m:User talk:DannyS712.

Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 00:51, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

User script to access other watchlists

[edit]

Hi NicoScribe,

If you remember, you participated in the 2019 Community Wishlist Survey, including the discussion for reviving "Crosswatch" to allow for cross-wiki watchlists (Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Watchlists/Revive Crosswatch tool).

I sent you this MassMessage because I wanted to let you know that I have made a user script to make accessing your watchlists on different wikis easier, since for now that wishlist item has not been actioned.

The way it works is that, on any wiki, when you look at your watchlist, there is a button labeled "CA" that takes you to the CentralAuth page for you. There, when looking at your own information, each link to a wiki ("meta.wikimedia.org", "www.wikidata.org", "de.wikipedia.org", etc.) is changed so that it links to your watchlist on that wiki.

If you are interested in using it, just add mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:DannyS712/Watchlist.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); to your global javascript page. This imports the code at m:User:DannyS712/Watchlist.js.

If you want to learn more, there is documentation for the script available at w:en:User:DannyS712/Watchlist. If you would like to discuss the script, talk to me at m:User talk:DannyS712.

Thanks, --05:50, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

The Research team could use your help

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of your recent activity in the Translations namespace.

The Wikimedia Research team is developing a new algorithm that automatically recommends sections for editors to add to articles. Translations have already occurred for some of the few languages that we are testing in, except for Spanish and Russian. If you have some time in the next few days, please consider translating the short message (only 6 items) we aim to send out soon, in one or both of these languages. (And if you feel like you want to support your tester peers even more, you can do so by taking care of the related instructions page.)

Thank you! Jonathan Morgan & Diego Saez-Trumper, Wikimedia Foundation Research - 18:14, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Translation help?

[edit]

Hi.

You, and some other users, are getting this message because you've previously translated from English to Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil or Telugu here on Meta. The Community Engagement department at the Wikimedia Foundation is trying to get some information we think is very relevant to the Indian communities translated into these languages. If you have the time and would be willing to help out, please take a look at User:CKoerner (WMF)/Support for our communities across India, which we'll be posting as soon as possible.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF) 11:40, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Russian vandal

[edit]

Hi! I'm CU on it.wiki and have found some vandalic activity on movie articles (e.g. it:Antonio Banderas) from 95.25.0.0/16 and 95.26.0.0/16 in the last few months. There some similar older activity from 176.59.0.0/16

I'm writing to you because I've just read Steward_requests/Global/2018-07#Global_block_for_95.26.124.172 :-).--Shivanarayana (talk) 13:45, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Shivanarayana:
Thank you. Yes, this vandal is using these 3 ranges since at least mid-June 2017 (and, in the 2018 request, you can see that the vandal is also using 83.220.236.0/22 + 176.14.0.0/16).
After the 2018 request, I exchanged several mails with one steward, but no solution has been found against this vandal.
On my side, I am not a steward, I am checking the contributions from the 5 IP ranges, from time to time. I have not done it recently (I am very late in all my Wikimedian activities), but I plan to do it.

I am pretty sure the title is still not Akan. If you see a translation page is not constructive, you can tag it with {{delete}} like any other page. ~~~~
