The ocelot (/ˈɒsəlɒt/; Leopardus pardalis), kent as the dwarf leopard an aa, is a wild cat distributit extensively ower Sooth Americae includin the islands o Trinidad an Margarita, Central Americae, an Mexico. The ocelot is similar in appearance tae a domestic cat. Its fur resembles that o a cloodit leopard or jaguar an wis ance regardit as particularly valuable. As a result, hundreds o thoosands o ocelots wur ance killed for thair fur. The feline wis classified a "vulnerable" endangered species frae 1972 till 1996, an is nou ratit "least concern" bi the 2008 IUCN Reid Leet.
