One Direction, also known as 1D, are a British-Irish boy band. The members are Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. They finished third on the seventh series of The X Factor. Simon Cowell put them together on X Factor in 2010 because he thought they were too good to lose, even though they did not win. They received 3rd place.

"One Thing" was One Direction's first single. After being signed to Syco Music, the group recorded their first album Up All Night. It was third in the charts. They have been very successful since. They are now touring to places around the world such as the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. They released a second album in in November 2012, called Take Me Home. It includes the singles "Little Things", "Live While We're Young" and "Kiss You". The group released their third album that is called Midnight Memories, which was released in late November 2013. Two songs from this album, "Just Can't Let Her Go" was leaked in early August 2013 and "Diana" was leaked on 20 September 2013.

On 29 August 2013, their movie This Is Us was released.
