Ulay (born Frank Uwe Laysiepen; 30 November 1943 – 2 March 2020) was a German contemporary artist. He is best known for his worldwide for his Polaroid art and performance art together with longtime companion Marina Abramović. He was based in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam and Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

Ulay was born in Solingen. He dated Marina Abramović from 1976 to 1988. On 2 March 2020, Ulay died in Ljubljana of lymphoma at the age of 76.[1]
