Suzanne Cleary (poet)[change source]
Kennedy has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Notability not established. Google results not very conclusive, first results are her website, followed by a few minor results. English wiki has no page. References not supportive (own website and youtube). Kennedy (talk) 16:52, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please discuss this request below, but keep in mind that you shouldn't vote on everything and that there may be options other than "keep" or "delete", such as merging.
Discussion[change source]
- Keep: (Disclosure: I wrote the entry) Cleary has received numerous poetry awards, including the Pushcart, which is a top award. Notable contemporary poets rarely make much of a ripple in the Internet unless they are tied to something else. (See the case of Richard Blanco: look at his few Wik/en hits until yester-day.) I hope some-one reading this discussion has access to an academic library, so support from good print sources will show that Cleary is a notable minor contemporary poet.Kdammers (talk) 03:48, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Good response, and interesting. I suppose I never thought poets would not make news on the internet. I'd be happier if we had some better sources though. YouTube and the persons own website is not ideal. Paper sources can be used too. Kennedy (talk) 13:01, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Unfortunately, here in Mongolia, I don't have access to any of the standard reference works in Western humanities. I agree that we need better sources, so that's why I asked if a reader could go to an academic library and pull out a good source or two.Kdammers (talk) 04:06, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. I'm convinced about the person, and think the page is a reasonable starting-point. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:36, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- What made you convinced about the person? I've given reasons why it would not meet certain criteria for Wikipedia, so if you have other information about the poet then it would help greatly I'd imagine. Opinions here should be based on fact, rather than just your gut feeling... Kennedy (talk) 14:13, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak keep - There is a lack of third party sources, most crucially one mentioning her receipt of the Pushcart Award (a search on JSTOR only gave me her works, and the earlier Pushcart Awards). I think she does satisfy point 5 of en:WP:CREATIVE, but only barely. Chenzw Talk 09:26, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
