Joint European Torus

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Joint European Torus, or JET, was a magnetically confined plasma physics experiment. It is at Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.[1] It ran between 1983 and 2023.[2]

Between 2009 and 2011, JET was shut down to rebuild many of its parts. On 21 December 2021, JET produced 59 megajoules during a five-second pulse, beating its last 1997 record of 21.7 megajoules.[3]
