I am creating basic articles for the German federal states - i wonder about "Saar", Saarland" or "Usaar(i)"? CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:16, 9 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

You can just use "Jimbo la Saar". I correct the entry in Ujerumani accordingly. Viel Spaß! --Kipala (majadiliano) 08:00, 10 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Kira: on the map you show tha place as "jiji" - but that would be a city. Why not just leave the title of a place if it is not necessary? Otherwise: Mji. --Kipala (majadiliano) 22:17, 10 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

OK, will do. I am not so sure about the Saarland - it looks random to me? Another question i have is Saksonia ya chini <-> Austria Chini? And talking about "ya" is there a preference for ya to za : Wilaya za Uganda or Wilaya ya Uganda? CGN2010 (majadiliano) 22:24, 10 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Well, Saksonia ya chini or Saksonia chini - both is possible, thus also Austria Chini or Austria ya chini.
As for "ya" or "za" - that is a difference in meaning. If the first word is "wilaya" (district) then "ya" means singular, and "za" means plural. Thus wilaya ya Uganda = "a district of Uganda"; wilaya za Uganda: "(the) districts of Uganda". --Kipala (majadiliano) 18:04, 11 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Ok, thanks. I dont dare creating Austria chini yet. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:12, 11 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Considering Afrika Kusini / Afrika ya Kusini, it should be Saksonia Chini? (SW is quite straight forward) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:26, 12 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
In de.wikipedia you would be absolutely right and in en.wikipedia you would be pretty right. Swahili is a language which has a certain variety in expression, especially (like often in geographical articles) about topics people have not yet really started talking about. So we sometimes do something which basically should not happen in wikipedia: forming language, creating notions because we are the first ones to write about it in Swahili. If you really want to do that changing job (including checking possible links to other entries) - go ahead! Ein Mann muss schliesslich seinen Wege gehen! --78.164.160.82 22:41, 12 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Durch den Sprachrat wird die Sprache so oder so geformt - ich denke hauptsache ist, die Begriffe sind erstmal draussen und können dann weiter...leben... - What you say is the reason why i was afraid to create the "Saar" article. I can check the links for Niedersachsen. Today I also worked on some of the categories; trying to bring country categories for geography and politics into a coherent fashion. i hope i didnt miss any substantially different strategy to categorise (different to en or de)? Gruß! CGN2010 (majadiliano) 23:04, 12 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Mkoa wa Équateur - I notice you created without interwiki. Same with other stubs?? --Kipala (majadiliano) 11:48, 13 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

thanks, yes i was sleepy... will go through them all. i realised i stepped into unchartered territory again, as the mikoa are still young. for now i have followed through without (ya), but checked with other (should Jamii:Mkoa wa Kaskazini Unguja all go into Jamii:Mkoa wa Unguja Kaskazini?) and also wrote down the alternative namings. Hallo - es macht mir Spaß in einer kleinen Wiki so grundlegende Dinge zu verrichten - hat mich gestern richtig gepackt! :-) i have imported a lot of english templates (mainly in the process of cleaning up articles imported from en). i noticed that some templates are also imported from de and so they sometimes work against each other (for example (Kiarabu)). how is it here with en templates? i reckon there will be more imports from en so those templates might work fine, but i can imagine people dont want to much meta (dependency) - (where in the end hardly anybody will get through it all..?) andererseits sind en-vorlagen sehr beutzerfreundlich und das würde technisch nicht so versierten beutzern helfen...? i have some more questions: 1. some user worked on companies listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange and there were a bunch of articles being placed in two different categories (my feeling was something like "Makampuni katika Soko la Hisa la Nairobi" would be easier: please let me know what you think and i can re-sort the articles. / the same for the parliamentary constituencies in Kenya: which one is right? / and national football teams (where i already moved articles in the hope of linking them to all the football related en-templates) ...? if you know a good phrasing, i can reorganize them all accordingly. 2.: i believe it would help to organize football clubs and other articles in Sport-by-country categories - if there is already or if you can think of a good way to name those that would be great too. Or let me know if i should leave those for now. - and 3.: importing Städtelisten aus de legt es nahe, die Klammervarianten zu übernehmen, d.h. dass dann aber parallel redirects angelgt werden müssen? (see here). Grüße, CGN2010 (majadiliano) 19:20, 14 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
I do not understand all of your concerns but basically it sounds ok to me. We are a very small permanent team and recently we had a major influx of entries because of a competition sponsored by google. This left a number of articles which could not be reviewed yet as there was a large (by our standards) number of absolutely new contributors who were attracted by google-prizes 8a few laptops). Nearly all of them are gone now and left a lot of articles which often are not really state of the art formally and also linguistically. If you want to sort it is better to go by English system as on the long run for te future contributors will know English and not German. But in the past a lot of basic articles was done by German speaking wanawikipedia and we probably used often German systemaics. If you can see conflicts that is a valuable contribution so go ahead.
As I understand that your Swahili is limited I advise to ask often for second opinions and the people to ask are me, Muddy and Oliver= Baba Tabita; for anything on biology ChriKo. MrAccountable also who does not know that much Swahili but has done a lot of stubs and also categorizing. Cheers und hau rein! --Kipala (majadiliano) 20:49, 14 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Infobox settlement - Bendera

[hariri chanzo]

Hi, it's great to see your work on the wikipedia, including work on the templates/vigezo. I was really pleased to see "bendera" and "seal" added to "Infobox settlement"; however, in looking at Mainz, the "bendera" doesn't seem to work unless there is a picha in "picha ya seal", and the "picha ya seal" doesn't seem to work at all. I put city flags into articles in Jamii:Miji ya Marekani and Jamii:Miji ya Ufaransa, and I want to move them to the infobox where they belong, instead of in front the article (as a temporary place). I don't really know how to fix the templates, or I would do it myself. I hope you have time for it someday. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 11:21, 18 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Hi, yeah nice to see there are a buch of people working in here! i m working hard to have sw overtake ido... :-) - but i am done for the day/night. in regards to the templates: i am having a hard time myself, and this particular vigezo (settlement) is very complex - also with the partial translations already in place. for the university template i started to translate everything - as a test. for most other templates (e.g. officeholder) i have left the invible "Parameters" untranslated. the best thing would be to have "if"-"if" versions, like it is at many templates already in place for image/picha.
when i managed to get the flag shown it was more by chance and i wanted the "nembo" being shown too, but gave up on that day (i wasnt happy with the mixing of languages to begin with...). because many 1000s of towns already use this half sw/ half en version, it would probably be the best to have everything being offered in a translated and untranslated version. however the template would become huge with so many if-functions so we could maybe take out a few functions. (the ones which arent used till now anyway) like 2nd and 3rd mayor etc. we could also just translate everything, offer only an sw version and have a bot replace the parameters where still used in en (like the subdivion_1 etc.) actually i could use a bot for a lot of categories too (like the Kenya constituencies...). Can me program a bot to do things like that? I have left a request-for-translation on the talk page of the About vigezo and "surface" is the last remaing word needing translation on the airport vigezo. The settlement doesnt show the type of settlement (on blue background like in en) and poulation is only avaialbe as urban (for the confusion of population of mkao or wilaya.....) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 12:00, 18 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Hi, I am definitely on Wikivacation. ... Here is my screenshot of the AWB Picha:Screen shot AWB.png and de page w:de:Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser. Very many experienced editors use this AWB, and it is very very well maintained software, and it works real well. ... On en, one needs 500 or 1000 edits to qualify. For an experienced editor like yourself, you may have no problem being approved. Let me know if you have any questions about AWB. .... And, where are the Kenyan constituencies? If you mean writing all the Kenyan constituency articles new, translated from en or de, then the answer is "yes", the AWB is very good at making sets of very similar articles. For instance, most all the 400+ cities in Jamii:Miji ya Ufaransa were done this way. ... Cheers. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 16:02, 4 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Hi A., thanks for the help - it looks like real helpful, but at first sight i dont have a clue on how and what. Sometime i might have the time for this feature and then it would be nice to get some help. Could i get a permission via wp:sw or is it organised centrally (via wikimedia)? The missing nembo and seal in the infobox template is bothering me too - so i havent forgotten about it. RE: the constituencies in Kenya: from what i was breifly reading, they are all about to be abolished (in reality) as there were legal faults in creating them. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 17:16, 4 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Hello A. i would like to start this AWB now. i went through the step-by-step-guide and it says i am supposed to register through the local wiki. I hereby want to apply for AWB. Can you set me up? - I have a big task at hand, which is getting all the year articles and categories into a good shape (including add. redirects etc.). A set of stubs for the 500 largest german towns (and a similar amount for other european countries) would be nice - i wonder if it would be equally or even more sustainable to create stubs for all remaining towns and municipalities (villages) in sw-speaking countries. Bearing year articles and all those towns in mind, sw could easily expand by a 5.000 articles within the next 2 weeks. At such a dimension, i am a bit concerned about the depth of the entire project, for which i would for the least suggest PLENTY of redirects, as new and/or inexperienced users might not know the right page name for their desired links. What do you think of such a sudden increase in number of articles? CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:43, 16 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Well, as an Administrator here at SW, I hereby vote "yes" to your using AWB. As far as setting you up, I will have to find out how to do so. To start with, looking at en edits for CGN2010, you have at least 2000, I'm sure there's more, I stopped couting. I think that if you went to the en AWB request approval page and 1=let them know you have good total edits on de and sw and ? as well as en; and 2=Administrator approval at sw (me) for AWB use, you would in all seriousness probably be approved immediately. I was approved on en and then I simply started using AWB here at sw. Apparently we do not have an approval mechanism; or if we do, I am not aware of it. I will ask Kipala about this. In the meantime, 1=I will continue to find out how to approve an AWB here as administrator and 2=If you apply at en (or de) you will probably be able to start editing here at sw with the AWB right away. Also, I am administrator but definitely don't have serious technical ability, so I wouldn't be able to find or use any technical information related to AWB approval, use or government. Sorry. Any more comments or questions please continue this thread. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 14:24, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Surface road

[hariri chanzo]

Hi, surface road = barabara ya watembea kwa miguu, but it's not good translation. I said that because it's written in its front is "asphalt". Since it's written that word, then the translation would "barabara" for "surface road". We don't need to complicate things like that. Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 11:42, 19 Julai 2010 (UTC) [jibu]

I think i get the meaning. "barabara" is the word for a "road with a surface" (="surface road") as well as the "surface" itself (="road surface") - and this term also applies for airport runway (however always implying that the runway actually has a surface). (just for the record: its is only one translation, but the template is used many times.) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:09, 19 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Ahaa! Also, I saw the direction still in English. The meaning of that word is "mwelekeo"! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 13:35, 19 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Kiwanja cha N(n)dege < - > Uwanja wa (N)ndege? can this become conistent? which form? CGN2010 (majadiliano)
there are a few articles called Kiwanja cha Ndege. Most articles are called Uwanja wa Ndege. I want people to see that there is a consistency, so they get encouraged to use the same form. at the moment, there are so many forms of titles and that is confusing. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 14:46, 19 Julai 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

ok. done. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 16:37, 22 Julai 2010 (UTC) - what do you think of the names for Mikoa ya Angola? is the "Kusini" etc. in use or do you say "Sud"? also, i wonder about the brackets.... new, inexperienced user have such a hard time anyway (to get into wikipedia) and having articles and categories with brackets makes it even harder for people to find stuff (regardless of plenty of redirects) Jamii:Mkoa wa Bonde la Ufa (Kenya) has about any possible en and/or sw version for redirects (with or without brackets, kommas, small "kenya" etc.) . it is just hard to decide whether to create an article or category with or without brackets. Template Documentation

[hariri chanzo]

Hi there! I have a bit suggestion for above mentioned template. I want to change the template's name from Documentation to Nyaraka. The header "Template Documentation" to "Nyaraka za Kigezo", but I could not manage to change all those message due to complication of the template are. Would you be so kind to change all those things? On the other hand, also want to change <!--Add the [edit][purge] or [create] links--> to <!--Add the [hariri][safisha] au [umba] links-->! Hope that's not big deal to yah! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 05:51, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC) [jibu]

hallo: its done. the translations of those 3 words was simple: the only thing to be careful with that was just to change the words which will be shown directly, and not to change the words that have interrelations with the code. (interrelation with code normally is inside or {}.)
I have also changed "/doc" to "/hati", so from now on, when importing the Documentation, everyone will no longer be asked to create a /doc page, but now to create a /hati page. I know there were both versions in use, so now everything might have to be moved to /hati. This is a google search result for the kigezos still using the /doc documentation (26 of them). I can go through them to check if they want to be inbedded into the kigezo:documentation.... - if yes, we could move them all to /hati. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 13:18, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Hello, pal! Thanks for the changes. Regrettably, still so many to change. Instance, this message: Nyaraka husika hapo juu zinatokana na kigezo cha Kigezo:Infobox television episode/hati. (hariri | historia)
Hivyo basi wahariri wanaweza kufanya majaribio yao kwenye sanduku la mchanga la "sandbox = kigezo" (umba) and testcases (umba) pages.

Please add categories and interwikis to the /hati subpage. Subpages of this template. It is some of its part still look complicated to bring into Kiswahili (that's me). Unless to translate it out of kigezo - then you can copy them and add into it. Think you can do it? Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 13:32, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC) [jibu]

i can do, but i need translation help:

"Nyaraka husika hapo juu zinatokana na Kigezo:Infobox television episode/hati. (hariri | historia)" is the translation of >> needeless for translation
"Hivyo basi wahariri wanaweza kufanya majaribio yao kwenye sanduku la mchanga la..." is the translation of >> kigezo
"Please add categories and interwikis to the /hati subpage. Subpages of this template." translates as >> Tafadhali weka jamii na viungo vya interwiki kwenye kikurasa cha /hati. Vikurasa vya kigezo hiki.

Imefanyika. Let's try more!--MwanaharakatiLonga 14:35, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

google found 13 jamii with "template" in it (that are all not yet created). We can start organizing those jamii, but i dont know good names for the categories. I would like to start with a basic structure, that is:

Category: Infobox templates >>> Sanduku la habari la vigezo
Category: Navigation templates >>>> Mwongozo wa vigezo
Category: Organisation templates >>> Mpangilio wa vigezo
Category: Templates by country >>> Vigezo kwa nchi Jamii:Vigezo vya nchi (kwa nchi) (?)
Category: Templates by continent >>> Vigezo kwa bara "Jamii:Vigezo vya bara (kwa bara)" (?)

see Jamii:Vigezo, ideally we can maintain the phrasing as "Jamii:Vigezo vya.... " Greetings CGN2010 (majadiliano) 14:53, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Man, you're awesome! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 15:37, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

- :-) i like to bring a consitent structure into the category system, so new user will get around more easily. one big issue for me is a consistent naming scheme inside the jamii. Consistency is very important, because only when there is a uniform way of naming categories, everyone will know at once, what name a category should get! And thats the point: we need more people to contribute, and the easier it is to understand a category-name >> for 1): the more people will contribute constructively, and for 2): the less corrections we have to make....! Now, for the Jamii:Vigezo: currently it looks easy as they are all in the same manner, so i like the translations (above ↑) to be named somehow consitently too... How about this:
Category: templates incorporating an infobox >>>
Category: templates incorporating a navigation >>>>
Category: templates as an infobox >>> Vigezo wa sanduku? ("Box" would be fine, it doesnt need to be 100% literally)
Category: templates as a navigation >>>> Vigezo wa mwongozo?
Category: templates with an infobox >>>
Category: templates with a navigation >>>>

I hope you see what i am after: some general naming, that is easy to adopted for other template-jamii to create in the future... CGN2010 (majadiliano) 15:56, 6 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Mkoa is the correct word for landskap, or in English province. It has more of a historical implication behind it. Län means county, and it implies something of a more adminitrative district. When I put the word county into the two available on-line Swahili dictionaries they translate it as jimbo, but I can't see that used for the Swedish län. I may be going out on a limb here, but I think you probably should use wilaya. I hope I'm correct on this. Jhendin (majadiliano) 12:30, 7 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

my reasoning is somewhat similar, so i will go for it. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 12:57, 7 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Hi there! On the Kigezo:Lango there is some little problem which I could not be able to make it work as it's suppose to be into Kiswahili. I dont know about the break option. It has something to do with the >> << which is code for a space ("_") like >>  | << is a code for a " | " . CGN2010 (majadiliano) 15:45, 9 Agosti 2010 (UTC) PS: i think it doesnt matter too much. if you want a break, use the "boxsize=50" function. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 15:45, 9 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

That's right. And do you think you can help with SW:DYK? It's been a long time its last changes. We didn't change it - maybe since we made main page makeover. Do you think we can work together on this in order to change it? Or creating the smart template so that it can change itself? Just like "Makala ya wiki"! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 16:06, 9 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

ok. Is that a page somewhere? I think "Help" in general needs to be pretty elaborated, as i believe a lot of people think, editing at wikipedia is complicated. 94.220.253.65 16:11, 9 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Kigezo:Location map Kanada

[hariri chanzo]

Hi, the new location maps are great, but I think the border parameters of Kigezo:Location map Kanada need adjustment. Check Edmonton and en:Edmonton, the dot is southwest of where it ought to be. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:37, 11 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

i have tried to implement various forms from other wikis (including the Russian) - they all dont work with us. wp:ru was actually the most promising as it includes some additional templates, to deal with it. en etc is using this strange coord format which doesnt work with us. i imported this grey map on purpose, to have it all uniform. en is using funny yellow maps for japan etc. (if no-one else knows how to fix this map here, we can always switch to yellow. :-)

despite this, feel free to give me any country you need and i ll import the map. normally its easy. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 23:58, 11 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

China's the map I need. ... And the Canada map is more or less somewhat close to accurate for the time being. I'll work with the maps and I'll let you know how they sort out. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 01:48, 12 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Hi, Uingereza and Uingereza (maana) have been moved as per your message. .. As far as proper Kiswahili names for template categories, I am sorry, I don't have the necessary language skill to do that correctly; similar to the situation with Regions of England, where, a few months ago, I couldn't really figure out the correct Swahili names for the regions, and simply left it to be done later; that category looks very good now, I finished up with renaming the Midlands categories following your example. .. If you have an idea for changing template names using the AWB bot, let me know and I will see what I can do. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 15:21, 13 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Great. thx for the move. - i guess its ok with the new categories: at least one will find them this way and they can be moved more easily (eventually). CGN2010 (majadiliano) 15:36, 13 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Hi there! The graphic is ready! See http://muddybtz.blog.com/ and I made some comments! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 13:38, 16 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Multiple langicon katika 'Viungo vya nje'

[hariri chanzo]

Hi, there is something going on with langicon templates, I don't know if you've been working on this, please check cities in Mkoa wa Chiba such as Kashiwa, Chiba and Kisarazu, Chiba. I don't know what kind of priority this problem has, I just thought I should let you know. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 02:17, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

is it ok this way now? it was me who added a "noinclude" just so that those places dont end up in the vigezo cat - i always have to make sure to place the noinclude DIRECTLY behinf the code. Can you have a look further up, regarding AWB CGN2010 (majadiliano) 02:41, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Oh, i just remember, i have reverted your changes to the philipino language icon, as the (previous) template at that name is being used elvewhere a lot. we can move it (the old one) to make room for the (was it "TL"?) but keep in mind we have to change the name of that vigezo in the respective articles and also have to change some syntax in other vigezo. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 02:58, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Hi, did you receive my mail? I've mailed you yesterday. Please check it.--MwanaharakatiLonga 08:50, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
Oh, I'm really sorry about Kigezo:tl, I thought it was a piece of debris, obviously it is not. I will write a Kifilipino langicon link with a new name, and I'll be more careful in the future. Very dumb, sorry again. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 18:15, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC) + Maybe I should be back on Wikivacation. Cheers. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 18:39, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

no problem. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 18:41, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

In regard to AWB, you are now included as 'approved' on our sw AWB page (Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage) which I just found. I received information about AWB procedures at User:Reedy at AWB. Now, I am not sure where you are going to be able to download AWB, but you are cleared for AWB use here at sw. I will continue with this tomorrow, in regards to getting information about AWB download for sw users. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:21, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

i think i could log in. i have a done a download from the link given on en and set preference-project to sw - and was accepted. will play with it tonight. thanks. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:34, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Good! --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 23:21, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
i believe i am not supposed to log-in during such a session. i like to create categories. is that possible? 23:24, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)

18 Agosti 2010 (UTC) hey: i cant do anything anylonger. everytime i press "start" it constantly says i ve got a new message. 23:31, 17 Agosti 2010 (UTC)

Maybe this is a useful page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Regular_expression --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:08,
I've transformed and retransformed long lists of redlinks using Regex; one uses %%pagename%% or %%basepagename%% to generate the pagename itself. ... This page is also useful http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Find_and_replace . --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:12, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Continue

[hariri chanzo]

You have a list of city name redlinks in AWB list area. 1=If you need to tweak the list of redlinks, copy the name of your sandbox page into the list area, and there should then be one item in the AWB list. Here, use logic like Find=]] and Replace=, Schleswig-Holstein]]. 2=If you already have a good list of redlinks in the AWB list, then at this time I think you must tweak your inputs. Did you put the new contents into Append/Prepend, and then choose Prepend? etc. I found it took me some amount of time to get it right. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:49, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Actually what it's doing is skipping the pages, might be a variety of reasons, this is not too difficult to solve. It could come from any part of the setup including the Skip page. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:57, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

You have deutsche or englische AWB? --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 19:59, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

english.

how do you know about the skipping? yes i just saw it too. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:03, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Skipping often results from Find=no match. ... Miji ya Hesse looks very good. Information=To add {{Infobox Settlement, it pays to 1=open a city page, edit the infobox and then transfer to Append/Prepend or 2=open a city page, edit infobox and then copy from open city page to AWB for each iteration. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 20:31, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

ok. so i do the box then. eventually i d like to add a sentence with the inhabitants. (also to go into the box!) "Idadi ya wakazi wake ni takriban >>PARAMETER<<." CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:36, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Yeah, it is not too difficult to figure out, practice practice practice; after a while one would try to add wakazi, eneo, hohe, picha, bendera, all in one AWB step. I normally add data from the en or fr or ja or de interwikipage, if you find a way of doing it automatically, let me know about it right away LOL. ... I think I've seen some template that automatically updates population data from a government database, I forget if it was US, GB, FR, DE... One place to check for AWB functionality is in History, What links here, and especially Logs. It's in Swahili so I find it more difficult to use, but I have used some of these functions on EN AWB. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 20:42, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

In re: Infobox Settlement, if we have more lines, for Time Zone, City telephone codes, Mayor, population density, etc, I will definitely add them to the city article infoboxes. `Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 20:46, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

so there is no way you know about automaticcally transferring those population data. yes i believe all the large wps have automatic popul-templates installed. i think the strategy as proposed above could work somehow to get the population in automatically.

see the talk page for infobox settlement and add your comments. i have recently removed the time zone stuff cause i thought it looked too over the top for wp:sw. (?) CGN2010 (majadiliano) 20:52, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

I will add comments. .... For 234 kk and 234 K.K. redirects here is information:
 • 1=copy Miaka ya Karne 2 KK to your user sandbox page
 • 2=add brackets on sandbox page Find=*_ Replace=*_ and Find=KK Replace=KK
 • 3=make AWB list of 100 years redlinks from sandbox and Prepend=%%pagename%%. (Now sandbox page redlinks= 234 kk.)
 • 4=For AWB list of 100 years, Find=[[ Replace=#redirect[[ and Find=kk Replace=KK. kk Imefanyika.
 • Repeat for K.K.
 • Append/Prepend has some very limited built-in Regex functionality.

Does this make sense? Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:09, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC) ++++ LOL Do not make Page "234 kk" Content = #redirect234 kk. The AWB didn't work and I had to edit 100 pages on namespace Article one by one. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:16, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

what about # REDIRECT  %%pagename%% KK (instead of "%%fullpagename%%")!? en:Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Find_and_replace CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:22, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

because pagename=234 kk, so result is # redirect 234 kk KK ?
Looking at Viernheim, 1=There is ' in top left corner and 2=at Append/Prepend text, set to 'Use 0 newlines' , default is 2, which AWB used.

ok, thanks i ll fix V. thx for the newlines. i figured "pagename" isnt right, but i was expecting some other form of differentiation as there seem to bee some (on the link given). CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:32, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Viernheim looks perfect. ... I have not figured out the real differences between %%pagename%% %%basepagename%% and %%fullpagename%%. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 21:52, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

they havent put Einstein there for no reason..... CGN2010 (majadiliano) 21:53, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

Couldn't find Einstein at en:Viernheim. Did find Albertus Magnus School and Albert Schweitzer School ... of course Viernheim needs more information, but perfect so far, and from AWB perspective. .. I have important soccer/football game soon at http://www.hattrick.org/ I'll be here at SW tomorrow. Cheers. Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 22:00, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]

+ Miaka ya KK almost done, finished Mwaka 1 ==> Mwaka 400.

i was just about to write thx for the explanations - i have a good base knowledge now. i might do the decades or centuries the coming days. had enough tonight too. CGN2010 (majadiliano) 22:05, 18 Agosti 2010 (UTC)[jibu]
