Gen Fam49A proizvodi potein dužine 323 aminokiseline. Protein ima domene: ostaci 15-319 čine domen nepoznate funkcije (DUF1394, PF07159). Ostaci 67 → 281 čine natporodicu regije interaktivnog citoplazmatskog fragmenta fragilnog X, člana A porodice sa sličnošću sekvence 49.[8]
