The vast majority of the space in these files is a page from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, which has not entered the public domain. Therefore, these images violate our policies regarding de minimis. Since they are used by many pages on several different projects, I decided that a deletion discussion was in order.

  • KEEP: Well, I suppose it's good to discuss these things. The amount of text there is indeed minimal, and certainly nobody will take the image and try to use it to study the text: there are far easier ways to get hold of Tolkien's verse in Elvish languages, and without the top, bottom, left, and right of the material cropped off, too. In short, I think this image complies perfectly well with the de minimis rules. If esteemed colleagues decide differently, all we need to do is to crop the image rather more tightly, maybe on all 4 sides, until people can agree that the text is undoubtedly minimal, and get an admin to delete the old revisions. But I don't think we should be spending much time worrying about this harmless image. Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:03, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep I agree, really readable are only like 4 lines of the text, and quoting a single sentence or so is not a copyright violation, but a quote (the context is given). PaterMcFly (talk) 07:56, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep I agree. The image is just a crop of a single page and not all of it can be readable because of the blur. If it is neccesary to crop more the image to be allowed on the project, I also agree. Thanks. --Link58 (talk) 16:45, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: no valid reason for deletion. holly {chat} 21:18, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
