Description
English: The Shiva temple of Billawar, also called Mahadeva temple of Bilawar, is a 10th-century stone temple attributed to King Babhruvahana of Belapur. This is a Nagara style temple with a mandapa, antarala and garbhagriya. The temple was badly ruined, but had been restored. It is inside the town, midst a busy market, in active worship and attracts regional Hindu pilgrims. It is notable for Hindu artwork in black stone. These show signs of mutilation in their history. The artwork includes Shiva, Vishnu and Durga related panels and statues.
