Español: El efecto tyndall es el fenómeno físico que causa que las partículas coloidales en una disolución o un gas sean visibles al dispersar la luz. En esta imagen, podemos observar que de los tres recipientes en el único que ocurre este efecto es el del centro, el cual está lleno de humo de un palito de incienso, este fenómeno físico ocurre debido a que la dispersión de la luz por las partículas coloidales permiten ver el rayo del láser, que llega del lado derecho atravesando los tres vasos. Al realizarlo con un láser y no con un rayo del sol, generalmente se puede ver mejor, ya que un láser es monocromático, es decir, tiene una longitud de onda específica (un solo color), también que la luz del láser es coherente, lo que significa que las ondas de luz están en fase y alineadas, y por último que la luz láser es altamente direccional, lo que hace que sea vea bien definido.
En este caso, el camino del haz de luz del láser se hace visible porque la luz dispersada por las partículas de polvo es redirigida hacia tus ojos desde diferentes ángulos y la visibilidad del haz del láser en el aire depende de la cantidad y el tamaño de las partículas de polvo presentes. Por el contrario, los recipientes a los extremos de la imagen están vacíos, no tienen gases o líquidos con partículas en suspensión para que se pueda ver la luz, son transparentes. |
