i-cago Railway (the third rail to Chicago), also with thetrolley line operated by the same company extending toAurora and connecting with other roads to points beyond.At Belvidere connection is made with the Rockford & Inter-urban Railway operating west from Rockford to Freeport.From Rockford, the Rockford Beloit & Janesville Railroad way companies with which it has a mutual working agreement.The Belvidere terminal is shown in one of the accompanyingillustrations. The schedules have been arranged so as to givepatrons close connections with all trains running east, westor north. By this arrangement what is practically a throughservice from points north and west of Belvidere to Chicagoand all points on the Aurora Elgin & Chicago Railway isobtained. The running time between Elgin and Belvidere is nowone hour and forty-five minutes, but as soon as the track hassettled, the time will be reduced to one and one-half hours.An hourly schedule is maintained in both directions. The region through which the Elgin & Belvidere Railwayand its immediate connections pass is a well settled andprosperous community and offers opportunities for a largepassenger and freight traffic. lar agency stations are maintained at Elgin, Gilberts, Hunt-ley, Union, Marengo, Garden Prairie and Belvidere. Stopsare regularly made at these stations and upon signal carswill pick up passengers at any of the principal highway cross-ings along the line. Limited trains will later be added to theservice.
