Nederlands: De moord op Willem Jacobsz. Coster, 1640. Na de verovering van Punto Gale op de Portugezen in 1640 trok Coster naar het hof van de vorst van Ceylon, Rajasingha II. Toen zijn verzoeken niet werden ingewilligd, werd hij ongeduldig en onbeleefd. Coster begon de hovelingen te bedreigen en moest zonder Ceilonese escorte terugkeren naar Baticaloa. Onderweg werden hij en zijn vier Nederlandse begeleiders vermoord.
English: The murder of Willem Jacobsz. Coster, 1640. After the capture of Punto Gale from the Portuguese in 1640 Coster moved to the court of the ruler of Ceylon, Rajasingha II. When his requests weren't met, he became impatient and rude. Coster began to threaten the courtiers and was forced to return to Baticaloa without a Ceylonese escort. On the way he and his four Dutch companions were murdered.
