English: Agnes-Sulejka Klein.
Agnes-Sulejka Klein, a Romani prisoner who was deported to Auschwitz at the age of 16, raped by a prisoner-functionary and suffered from miscarriage, wrote in letters about the harsh condition in the “gypsy camp.” “We often had to stand in the open for hours, no matter what the weather, with rain and snow, wind and cold, with hardly any clothes on our backs and the children with us. They died like flies.”[1] From Auschwitz, Agnes-Sulejka Klein was sent via KZ Ravensbrück to Sasel, where she died of total exhaustion a few days before the end of the war. |
