For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Magdeburg, Zerstörung, Wiederaufbau Zentralbild Biscan Stö-Zi. 7.9.1964 15 Jahre DDR - 15 Jahre Aufbau Magdeburgs Magdeburg, dessen Stadtzentrum knapp vor Kriegsende durch anglo-amerikanische Bomben fast völlig zerstört worden war, bot vor 15 Jahren noch ein trauriges Bild. Auch an der Guericke-Straße gab es nur Trümmer. Heute erheben sich hier die beiden Punkthäuser (links) und das moderne Hotel "International" (rechts). Die Regierung der DDR hat gerade für den Neuaufbau der Elbestadt bedeutende Mittel zur Verfügung gestellt. Oberes Foto-23382-in
