Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Log caught on the weir at Abbey Mill In the 1990s, the two old sluices at Abbey Mill on the Mill Avon, were replaced with a single ‘fish belly’ sluice. Operation of the sluice is the responsibility of NRA Lower Severn Flood Defence. The sluice in the ‘up’ position forms a weir and maintains river depth upstream, in the ‘down’ position, it allows the water to flow freely in times of flood. During construction of the new sluice, an elver pass was added to the middle sluice under the mill, and the remaining two sluices were improved to allow the mill wheel to be turned.
