Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Fig. 3. Timing and delay lines – a) the first box shows 5 different encoding neurons with different amounts of input current. In the second box, the spiking times of these neurons with respect to the global subthreshold oscillation’s peak are shown. While neuron 1 receives the strongest input, and thus fires earliest, neuron 4 never reaches threshold. In b) different feature-detecting (encoding) neurons are shown to connect to a single recognition (higher-level) neuron via delay lines of different length, such that, for instance an input ratio of 5:4:2:1:3 would lead to its firing. Figure taken (a) from Hopfield, 1995.
