Summary
[edit]| Description | Mosaic of Hebes Chasma and Hebes Mensa, taken by Viking Orbiter 1 on June 25, 1978. Hebes Chasma is a 6km deep closed canyon system located north of Valles Marineris. At its center is a thick mound of layered material, likely erosional remnants of lake sediments that once spanned the entire canyon floor. This high-resolution (~40m/px) image mosaic was taken through the spacecraft's clear filter. |
