Let us hope that the King mayhave wisdom given to him, so as not to assert theoreticalclaims of official authority at the expense of and in oppo-sition to the just rights and safe privileges of constitutionalgovernment. His Majesty was married in June, 1829, to the PrincessMarie Louise Auguste Catherine, (daughter of Charles Fred-eric, late Grand Dul^e of Saxe-Weimar Eisenach, and sis-ter of the reigning Grand Duke), born on the thirtieth ofSeptember, 1811. He has had issue Prince Frederic Wil-liam Nicholas Charles, Prince of Prussia, married in Jan-uary, 1858, to the Princess Eoyal of England, and the Prin-cess Louise Marie Elizabeth, married to the reigning GrandDuke of Baden.

She is the daughter of Charles Frederic, lateGrand Duke of Saxe-Weimar Eisenach, and sister of thereigning Grand Duke. She was bom September 30, 1811,and married Jime 11, 1829. She is the mother of PrinceFrederic William of Prussia, who is married to the eldestdaughter of Queen Victoria of England. She is the motheralso of the Princess Louise Marie Elizabeth, who is marriedto the reigning Grand Duke of Baden. She was cro^vnedat Konigsberg in October, 1861, with great ceremonies, ofwhich an account is given in a previous sketch, and whichprecludes the necessity of repeating it here. The Queenof Prussia bears an illustrious character as a lady of nobledisposition, a lover of freedom, the friend of letters, andpatroness of every liberal art.
