Majoor Flinterman en luitenant Wansink vestigen Nederlands snelheidsrecord in de lucht; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 35 uit 1949.; Boven een op het het strand van Ameland uitgezette baan van drie km. behalen twee officieren van de Luchtmacht met een Gloster Meteor straaljager een nieuw Nederlands snelheidsrecord voor vliegtuigen. Beelden van de technische voorbereidingen en de recordpoging zélf. VOORBEREIDINGEN: - luchtopnames van Ameland, geschoten vanuit de cockpit van de straaljager; - op de grond installeren militairen div. draagbare radioapparatuur; rollen telefoonkabels uit; stellen filmcamera's op en richten een mobiele hoofdradiopost in; - Wansink en Flinterman bekijken de voorbereidingen van de grondcrew en maken een verkenningsvlucht boven de baan; RECORDPOGING: - vliegtuig stijgt op van startbaan vliegbasis Leeuwarden; - op Ameland vuurt de grondploeg lichtkogels af met seinpistool; - straaljager maakt vier runs boven het strand en landt even later weer op Leeuwarden; 32:34 Wansink (links); Flinterman (rechts).
