Title
Toy Jet Aeroplane from Walesby
Description
English: Lead Alloy

Toy Plane, as identified by the finder. Cast model of a Gloster Meteor, an early twin-engined jet aeroplane, at approximately 1:200 scale. These models were manufactured in a scale and style established in the later 1930s. On the underside of the wings appear the legends: DINKY TOYS/METEOR and MADE IN ENGLAND BY MECCANO. These early jets entered service very late in the Second World War, but post-war austerity meant that metal for toy-making only became available from the 1950s. Suggested date: Modern, 1950-1960.

Length: 62.7mm, Width: 62.9mm, Thickness (maximum): 9.4mm, Weight: 20.44gms.
