English: Western entrance to Old Sarum's bailey The causeway across the outer ditch on the western side of Old Sarum. The iron-age hillfort had an entrance here on the western side, but the earthworks have been greatly altered throughout the site's history. The eastern entrance has a less straightforward layout, with a horn-work or 'barbican' added in the late Iron Age. |
