- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 23:02, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

- Hi, thanks for the message. New to Wikipedia and didn't realise the issue with External links in the main body of articles, but now as I think about it, it does make sense that they would be disruptive in terms of navigating around the rest of Wikipedia. Thanks for the guidance and will ping you when I've removed them and/or put them in an 'External Links' section. 92.236.93.228 (talk) 07:58, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

editHello Chi-ymru. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Mark Nam, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Chi-ymru. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Chi-ymru|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. scope_creepTalk 07:58, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Scope Creep, I am certainly not being paid to or indirectly compensated for anything I do on Wikipedia. Doing this completely in my free time and at no-one else's request either. Chi-ymru (talk) 08:03, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- What about the image you upload that states its your own work? That indicates a WP:COI? scope_creepTalk 08:15, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't quite understand? Yes, I own the picture, but can't see how that means a financial stake? Very willing to learn what the issue is and take the whole page down. Thanks. Chi-ymru (talk) 11:50, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
