Hello, Zakary2012, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Melbourne did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

Hello, Zakary2012

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Joseywales1961, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Nathan Conroy (Australian mayor and election candidate), for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Joseywales1961}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

  Hello Zakary2012! Your additions to Nathan Conroy (Australian politician) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Wikishovel (talk) 21:37, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of THE MAGIC PRANK SHOW with Justin Willman

edit

Hello, Zakary2012

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Joseywales1961, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, THE MAGIC PRANK SHOW with Justin Willman, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Joseywales1961}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Edit warring at K'gari

edit

  Hi Zakary2012! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of K'gari several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:K'gari, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Turnagra (talk) 04:29, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Sorry, I didn't realise that it was against the rules at the time. I let my opinion get ahead of me. Now that I know what transphobic means, I greatly regret my decision to make this Userbox and apologise to anyone who was offended by my actions. Zakary2012 (talk) 09:07, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

At the time that I caused disruptive editing I did not know that it was against Wikipedia rules. If I am unblocked I will never cause disruptive editing and will only ever upload helpful information to Wikipedia. I do acknowledge that when vandalising Daniel Andrews I knew what I was doing the wrong thing and I greatly regret ever vandalising the page. On the Australia page however when I committed edit warring I did not know that it was a thing let alone that it wasn't allowed, it wasn't until an experienced editor told me about it when I realised it wasn't allowed. Lastly, with my transphobic Userbox, at the time I thought that transphobia was being against gender transition not hating trans people. Now I know about these rules and definitions are really regret ever committing disruptive editing and feel I have learnt my lesson.

Don’t spam the review process for your unblock. An admin reviewed and declined your request only 30 minutes ago and you immediately make another request to be unblocked? You’re not showing any sign of understanding why you’ve been blocked. GraziePrego (talk) 22:45, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree with this. My advice to you is to wait for six months per WP:SO, as Ahri Boy said. If you're getting frustrated, I also suggest taking a walk outside for some fresh air, or simply just do some breathing exercises, like I do when I'm stressed. Just think about how you're going to make Wikipedia a better place when you do get unblocked. Right now I don't think the chances of an admin unblocking you are high at all. NoobThreePointOh (talk) 04:14, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Does it have to be six months? Can't it be like a week? Because I really do regret what I did and I love Wikipedia. Zakary2012 (talk) 05:10, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Every single action you have taken since being blocked shows that you have zero respect for the rules or the processes by which Wikipedia operates. You have just spammed out statements which barely disguise that you're just desperate to get back to editing in the exact same way as before. No one who "loves" Wikipedia would vandalise it. Do as others have suggested and just wait. Immediately spamming the unblock process shows that you have zero understanding of why you're blocked and you just want someone to undo the block because it annoys you. GraziePrego (talk) 06:07, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Zakary2012: Since I haven't seen anyone else say it, I just want to point out that being "against gender transition" is not somehow less hateful or less transphobic than simply "hating trans people", since it's the viewpoint that transgender people should not exist at all. Just something to think about. 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talkcontribs) 16:48, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
