The isogloss separates Western dialects from Eastern ones; the latter of which only allow [i], [ə], and [u] to appear in unstressed syllables and include North Catalan (brown), central Catalan (red), Balearic, and alguerès (purple). Western dialects, which allow any vowel in unstressed syllables, include north-western Catalan (blue), and Valencian (green).
