Summary
DescriptionThe Palace Theater.jpg |
English: The old Palace theater in downtown Crossville Tennessee. Constructed in the late 1930s, the theater was the hub of entertainment in a growing southeastern town. It fell into disrepair in the early eighties as a newer theater came into town and drew the crowds away. It sat on its corner on Main Street literally rotting down for almost a decade. The building's roof gave way in many places, and the interior balcony quickly became a deathtrap. The Palace was resurrected in 2000, restored to its original glory, and reopened in early 2001. It is now a center of entertainment of several kinds including showings of classics by the local cinema club, live performances of various local and visiting musicians, comedians, magicians, and other entertainers.
