The 2010 National Invitation Tournament will be a single-elimination tournament of 32
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that are not selected to participate in the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament . The 73nd annual tournament will being on March 16 on campus sites and end on April 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City .

Names that are struck-through have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament . Names in bold are eligible for the 2008 NIT field after losing in their respective conference tournaments. Names in italics are awaiting the results of their respective conference tournament.
