2018 South Dakota elections

A general election will be held in the U.S. state of South Dakota on November 6, 2018. All of South Dakota's executive officers will be up for election as well as South Dakota's at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives.

United States House of Representatives

Incumbent Republican U.S. Representative Kristi Noem is not running for re-election and is instead running for governor.[1]

Governor and Lieutenant Governor

Incumbent Republican Governor Dennis Daugaard is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third consecutive term.

Attorney General

Incumbent Republican Attorney General Marty Jackley is term-limited and cannot run for re-election to a third term. Jackley is running for governor.

Republican primary

Lawrence County State's Attorney John Fitzgerald, Chief Deputy Attorney General Charlie McGuigan, and attorney and 2014 U.S. Senate candidate Jason Ravnsborg are running for the Republican nomination.[2][3][4]

Democratic primary

Former U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota, Randy Seiler won the nomination at the South Dakota Democratic Convention.

Secretary of State

Incumbent Republican Secretary of State Shantel Krebs is not running for re-election and is instead running for Congress.[5]

Republican primary

State Auditor Steve Barnett is running for the Republican nomination.[6]

State Treasurer

Incumbent Republican State Treasurer Rich Sattgast is term-limited and cannot run for re-election to a third term.

Republican primary

Josh Haeder, Northeast Director for Senator Mike Rounds, is running for the Republican nomination.[7]

State Auditor

Incumbent Republican State Auditor Steve Barnett is term-limited and cannot run for re-election to a third term.

Commissioner of School and Public Lands

Incumbent Republican Commissioner of School and Public Lands Ryan Brunner has not announced whether he will run for re-election to a second term.

Public Utilities Commissioner

Incumbent Republican Public Utilities Commission Chair Kristie Fiegen has not announced whether she will run for re-election to a second six-year term in office.
