Early Life

Oluwole Rotimi(Rtd General) was born february 20 1935 in Abeokuta Nigeria. He attended Agooko methodist School, Lisabi school ,Olowogbowo methodist School as well as Kings College Lagos. After which he gained a University of London Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University College Ibadan.

Oluwole Joined the army in 1960 and served as part of th UN peace keeping Force in Congo.He rose to become the first non white Deputy Quatermaster General and the third non white Quatermaster General of the Nigeian Army in 1966 and 1966 respectively.During the infamous Biafran War. Oluwole Rotimi provided logistics support for the Federal Goverment's war efforts.He became the commander of the Ibadan garrison bewteen 1969 and 1970.

After the war Oluwole Rotimi in he became the First Military Governor of Western State of Nigeria in 1971.


Governor of Western State

After the Biafran war and the post independence crisis that plagues the western region of Nigeria, Oluwole was appointed the Governor of the now defunct state.Doing his time as governor, the state enjoyed peace and development.

  • The Wood Processing Factory in Ondo
  • The Palm Oil Mill at Okitipupa.

In 1975, Oluwole rotimi was removed from office as governor of Western Nigeria after a coup d'tat. The following adminsitartion led by General Murtala Mohammeded, commissioned a panel to investigate corruption amongst that past governors of the past administration. Oluwole Rotimii, together with Mobolaji Johnson were exonerated.

Later Years

In 1999 Gen. Oluwole Rotimi was appointed by the the president Olusegun Obasanjo as the Head of a Commission of Inquiry for the Investigation of Federal Government Landed Property. Oluwole Rotimi was honored with a National award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2003. In 2005, Oluwole Rotimi was appointed a member of the National Constitutional Review Conference representing his home state-Ogun State. Oluwole Rotimi became the ambassador to the United States of America a position he was sacked from in 2009,by the then President of Nigeria, Yar adua after allegations of insubordination.
