David Royle is a Labour politician in the City of Manchester. He is a councillor in the Fallowfield ward notable for defecting to the Liberal Democrats on the eve of 2005 General Election, only to defect back to the Labour Party the day after. He is widely known for being an egomaniac and, like many councillors, for having an over-inflated opinion of himself. He has been reported to the Labour Party on more than one occasion for abusing his position as a councillor by breaching data protection laws and interfering in matters that do not concern him.
