Syedna Dawood Bin Qutubshah became Da'i al-Mutlaq in 999AH [2]/ 1591AD. His period of Dawat was from 999-1021 AH ( 1591-1631 AD).
In the time of the 27th dai Dawood bin Qutub Shah(d.1612A.D.)era, Sulemani Bohras (under Suleman bin Hasan, grand son of 24th Dai) separated, and the main Bohra section was renamed as Dawoodi Bohra (Suleman bin Hasan was wali (deputy)in Yemen of 25th dai,and wanted to become head after death of 25th Dai.As he was in command at Yemen majority of yemani Bohra went along with him, but in India he could get only minor support as his claim of "nass" was claimed forged and very evident to Indian Bohras).
