Dylan is a Welsh unisex given name, although it is more commonly given to males. It is derived from the Welsh elements dy, meaning "great" and llanw, meaning "sea".[1] It is usually a given name in Wales, and in Welsh the first syllable is most often pronounced closer to "dull" than to "dill" (IPA: [ə], hence [ˈdəlan]).
