Ervin Wilson is an American music theorist whose work, outside of the academic community, is noted for the variety and originality of its ideas. Wilson, despite his avoidance of publication, has been remarkably influential on those interested in microtonal music and just intonation, and is particularly noted for his work with scale construction. Among his ideas here are combination product sets and cross product sets, and the eikosany and hexany in particular. He is also noted for his scales based on recurrence relationships, such as meta-mavila and [meta-meantone]].
