InRule Technology is a software company that offers Business Rule Management System (BRMS) enterprise software products designed to author, manage and leverage business rules and complex decision logic. The company’s software tools and services enable subject matter experts to express their intent and configure the behavior of .NET architectures [1] and applications without programming effort.[2] InRule is the only BRMS Certified for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.[3] InRule Technology’s products include InRule and InRule for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.[4]

History

InRule Technology’s Chief Operating Officer Rik Chomko and Chief Technology Officer Loren Goodman began exploring the concept of building configurable applications in 1997. That process evolved into giving subject matter experts the ability to modify calculations, logic and other aspects of their applications without coding effort and developer involvement.[5] Chomko and Goodman founded InRule Technology in Chicago in 2002. Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board Paul Hessinger joined InRule Technology in 2004. The company partners with companies in several markets, including financial services, public sector,[6] healthcare,[7] insurance[8] and others.

In 2007, InRule Technology became a charter member of the Microsoft Business Process Alliance.[9]

Products

December 10, 2002, InRule Technology released its first software product, InRule. InRule included a rule engine enabling business users to control the decision logic that supports their core decisions and event processing.

Most recently, InRule Technology released InRule 4.5. The new edition focuses on the authoring interface and rule execution engine [10] designed to improve performance and reduce memory consumption. InRule 4.5 employs a development environment that is designed to fit within larger applications and within tools that address specific business domains.

The software architecture includes multiple components, including irAuthor, the primary authoring tool for creating and maintaining rules; irVerify, a real-time test environment to run and debug rule applications; and irSDK, an API that allows developers to integrate inRule into their applications. Additionally, irSOA allows users to access the InRule rule engine as a service.[4] On October 29, 2012, InRule Technology launched InRule for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, which is the first, and to date only, Business Rule Management System Certified for Microsoft Dynamics CRM[11] The program provides components to enable creation and update of rules within Microsoft Dynamics CRM, InRule for Microsoft Dynamics CRM provides a platform for shops that prefer to work with Microsoft’s platforms.[12]
