The National Care Service is a proposal by Nicola Sturgeon for the provision of social care in Scotland following the 2021 Scottish Parliament election. Legislation is to be introduced in 2021/2. The service is planned to be operational by the end of the parliament in 2026.

Derek Feeley, a former Scottish Government director general of Health and Social Care, produced a report recommending that the service should be established on an equal footing with NHS Scotland, and that a Minister for Social Care should be appointed. It would oversee the delivery of social care, aim to improve standards, ensure enhanced pay and conditions for workers and provide better support for unpaid carers.[1]
