Siwu language
Appearance
Siwu is a Niger-Congo language spoken in the mountainous central Volta Region of Ghana. It has traditionally been grouped with some thirteen other typologically similar languages under the heading Ghana Togo Mountain languages (formerly Togorestsprachen or 'Togo Remnant languages'). Siwu is spoken by the Mawu people in Kawu. They number about 10,000—15,000 in a total of eight villages scattered about in the mountains north of Hohoe. Surrounding peoples use the term Akpafu for the language, the people, and their land.
