Samuel Irvine (born 7 January 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland) was a footballer who played in The Football League for Shrewsbury Town and Stoke City. Starting at Shrewsbury, he made 198 league appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals.[1] Signing for Stoke in 1978, he made 67 league appearances for the Potters, and scored 10 goals.[2][3] A car crash forced his premature retirement in 1980 at the age of 24.[4]
