Scopes trial
Appearance
The Scopes Trial of 1925 pitted William Jennings Bryan against Clarence Darrow testing a law favouring Creationism over Evolution.
At issue was a law known as the Butler Law, which favoured Creationism to be taught in public schools.
John T. Scopes, a 24-year old science teacher and football coach, was hired specifically to bring this law to the court system in Dayton, Tennessee. The ACLU was involved in bringing the law to trial.
