Knighthood

I'm adding his knighthood to the article because I remember the announcement when he made the honours list. However I've been unable to find any reference to the relevant details on the web, and very few references to his being Sir Donald at all. Does anybody know which 1994 honours list he appeared in and what type of knighthood it was? JackofOz 10:08, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Donald Pleasance was not knighted. He was awarded an OBE in 1993 (Queen's Birthday Honours list, I believe), but he was most certainly not a 'Sir'. --Ayrshire--77 10:04, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The 1995 reprint of the Cambridge Biographical Encyclopedia (ed. David Crystal), calls him "Sir Donald" and says "he was knighted in 1994". Could the highly esteemed Prof Crystal have got it wrong? JackofOz 14:50, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like it — according to the Oxford DNB 1994 was the year he was appointed OBE. Wilus 09:08, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well there you go then. Thanks for clearing that up. (Moral: Don't believe everything you read. Catch: Know which experts to trust and which not.) JackofOz 09:21, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhere he voiced "The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water", a public information film. 68.39.174.238 03:49, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Date Confusion

The article lists his birth as in 1919 and his career starting in 1912. One of these needs correction. 67.79.157.109 12:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ambig in lede

"His high work rate in international cinema earned him the distinction of being the most prolific film actor at the time of his death with over 500 screen credits."

Can anyone clarify this statement? It sounds like he held a record that has since been broken, but it's not clear what that record is. Was his 500+ more than anyone ever accumulated? If so, is it still? The phrasing almost suggests the addition of the word "alive" after "prolific film actor". - Tobogganoggin talk 04:45, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
