Terminology. Mention the various terms used to refer to this phenomenon. A start: ideophone (mostly African) • psychomime (mostly Japanese) • onomatopoeia (a subset of ideophones) • psychomorph (Maduka 2001) • expressive vocabulary (Diffloth 1972 for Asian languages; Balto-Finnic) • expresseme (Slavic) • verbal image. I think ideophones is the preferred term since the Voelt & Kilian-Hatz (2001) volume.
