Differences in gameplay between 64 and melee

Should they be mentioned in the article?Memeligutsa (talk) 10:20, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article already makes passing references to changes within the text at points. It is not usually practice to purposefully describe the differences as a standalone paragraph/section for sequel articles. Plus, being an article that it is aimed at everyone, this would be aimed exclusively at people who've played the original. Thanks. Ashnard Talk Contribs 16:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Together We Ride?

I looked at the Super Smash Bros. Melee soundtrack list on the Wikipedia article. I looked at the Fire Emblem title, and next to it says "includes Together We Ride and Fire Emblem theme. I searched in a list of MP3 soundtracks (link not shown since Google confirms that it may have the possibility to harm your computer), and the beginning half of Fire Emblem is actually the Encounter theme from Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken. Should corrections be made? Slapmeorelse (talk) 20:46, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not totally sure about what should be done, as in how the corrections should be made from what you've said, but yes, the corrections should be made. Should the Fire Emblem theme be replaced by the Encounter theme? Anyway, it would probably be easiest if you corrected these yourself. Thanks for alerting everybody about this. Brawl FA

I don't know how many people visit this talk page anymore, but I just wanted to inform everyone that Brawl has passed its FAC! The entire series is now at WP:FTC, so if you want to give your support...(or oppose)... --haha169 (talk) 16:27, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is Super Smash Bros. Melee a fighting game?

Some fighting game players don't consider it a fighting game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.43.151.244 (talk) 23:04, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The vast, vast majority of people in general do. Any genre can have wide variations. Take, for example, Kingdom Hearts and NetHack—they're both RPGs.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 23:38, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some fighting game players don't consider it a fighting game, because they're from SRK, and never liked the smash community in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.247.21.125 (talk) 20:34, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What's SRK? —Preceding unsigned comment added by InuYoshi (talkcontribs) 17:38, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic was also intended?

I'm surprised this wasn't bought up here before.. [1] « ₣M₣ » 11:38, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Wow, I didn't even know that existed. I'll have it up later today. Thanks, FMF. Ashnard Talk Contribs 11:53, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to look into that though for a FAQ on IGN states "As with Sonic however, though he was never intended to be in Melee soon after the release of Melee a rumor was spread around the internet that Sonic was indeed an unlockable character" [2]. You have to wonder if the two IGN editors actually did their own extensive research before stating such information or (in the worst case scenario) that is just a general assumption. This is, nonetheless big news, I recommend tracking down that issue if necessary. « ₣M₣ » 12:32, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Stopped recording

Just so you know, I've stopped recording this article. I haven’t been able to find time, and the computer with all of my progress on it recently crashed. Sorry to all of those who may have been anticipating it. You're dreaming eh? 03:51, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's alright. I was looking forward to it, but if you haven't got the time then that's just the way it is. Thanks for your efforts. Ashnard Talk Contribs 07:12, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Melee Release Date

It says Melee's release date is the third, but multiple searches on google list it as the 2nd of December, 2001. http://www.mobygames.com/game/gamecube/super-smash-bros-melee/release-info

Though there are also sites that list the 4th as the release date... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.108.239 (talk) 00:18, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've found a Dec 3 from GameSpy. Are there any more sources for Dec 2 that are more reliable than Mobygames? Cheers. Ashnard Talk Contribs 16:27, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible errors in some of the cues' titles from the Smashing... Live! album

I think there's an error in some titles, like the Great Medley. The Yoshi's Island bit is actually the Super Mario World theme, and the Mushroom Kingdom II sounds more like Mario World's ending theme. Also, "Fountain of Dreams" is actually the tune from "The Gourmet Race" in Kirby Super Star. The Original Medley's opening bit isn't from Smash Bros. at all, it's a melody heard, again, in "Kirby Super Star", in special areas to save games in the mini game "The Great Cave Offensive" and other bonus levels.

I haven't changed it, because I may be wrong. Please correct if wrong. --Surten (talk) 01:49, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Surten[reply]

I honestly don't know. This may sound hypocritical as the current track is not itself sourced, but the best way to push potential corrections through is to find a decent source confirming your suspicions. Unfortunately, this may be one of them things that is not covered by the mainstrea media. If I manage to find some spare time, I'll investigate it myself. Thanks for raising this.
