Tulu calendar (also known as Varsa or Vorsa) is one of the oldest traditional solar Indian calendar generally used in the regions of South-West Karnataka and Northern Kerala, India. The indigenous or Tulu speaking people of Tulu Nadu and the people migrated from this region to other places are the common followers of this calender system. The first day of this calender falls on Bisu ( middle of Gregorian month April) The 12 Tulu Month names are 1. Paggu (April-May) 2. Besa (May-June) 3. Kaartel (June-July) 4. Aati (July-August) 5. Sona (August-September) 6. Nirnaala (September-October) 7. Bontyolu (October-November) 8. Jaarde (November-December) 9. Peraarde (December-January) 10. Ponny/Puyinthel (January-February) 11. Maayi (February-March) 12. Suggi (March-April)
