Alexa Miro is a Filipino actress, singer, and host. She is best known for hosting variety show Tropang Lol and Eat Bulaga. She starred as Fiona in the award-winning film, A Girl + A Guy (2019).
Early life
She was raised primarily by her mother, who was a professional singer. Growing up, they moved frequently both within the Philippines and abroad. Miro experienced difficulties in fitting in and was constantly bullied from grade school to freshman year in college. From a young age, she aspired to pursue a career in show business and showcase her talents in performance.[3]
Career
She won ABS-CBN’s Munting Miss Universe in 2001.
Upon starting her career, she began working for a company at an entry-level position. However, her passion for acting ultimately superseded her employment, leading her to pursue her passion in the entertainment industry.[4]
The screen name of Alexa was inspired by her idol, Angel Locsin, who has played roles with the name of Alexa in the past. One known instance is Locsin's portrayal of Alexandra Camille "Alex" Salazar in the 2013 family-drama film Four Sisters and a Wedding.[5]
The latter gained recognition after her role in the viral Jollibee Valentine's Series commercial titled Signs in 2018, and later the controversial commercial of Tipsy Pig Gastropub in 2021. The Jollibee commercial caught the attention of director Theodore Boborol, which led to her being cast as one of the leading lady's best friends in ABS-CBN's Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Araw Gabi, starring JM de Guzman and Barbie Imperial. Miro's career in show business continued to flourish with her starring roles in films Simplicity (2018) with Kelvin Miranda and A Girl + A Guy (2021), directed by Erik Matti. Miro will star with Derrick Monasterio in the romantic-comedy film, Cheat Day, directed by Joey Reyes. She will also topbill crime thriller, Hey Joe, with Arjo Atayde, Joel Torre, Nova Villa, among others.
Currently, she cohosts noontime variety show Tropang LOL with the likes of Alex Gonzaga and Bayani Agbayani.
Personal life
Miro had a romantic relationship with Congressman Sandro Marcos.
She is a nature lover and enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and is an avid scuba diver. She currently resides in Bacoor, Cavite.
