Russell Surasky (born July 6, 1981), known professionally as Dr. Surasky, is a neurologist and addiction specialist based in New York. Being board certified in both neurology and addiction medicine, he is the only physician in New York with this combination of credentials. Surasky is the Medical Director of Bridge Back to Life, a multi-center outpatient addiction treatment program and the founder of the Surasky Neurological Center for Addiction in Great Neck, NY.

Early life

Surasky was born in Syosset, New York on July 6, 1981. In 2009, He received his medical degree at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Being board certified in both neurology and addiction medicine, he is the only physician in New York with this combination of credentials.[1]

Career

Surasky founded the Surasky Neurologic Center for Addiction in 2013. Since 2015, He is the Medical Director of Bridge Back to Life Center, a multi-center outpatient addiction treatment program. A fellow of American Academy of Neurology (FAAN), American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) and American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM), Surasky is known for the pharmacological treatment of addiction and mental health disorders. His therapy includes the treatment of opiate and alcohol addiction with the medication - Vivitrol and educates physicians and the New York criminal justice system about addiction and Vivitrol treatment.[2][3]

Awards and recognition

In 2016, Surasky was awarded the Caron Medical Professional Award and the Patients’ Choice Award.
