Alec Burks
Alec Burks (born July 21, 1991) is an American collegiate basketball player for the University of Colorado Buffalos. Rivals.com listed Burks as the 31st rated point guard in the class of 2009.
High School
Burks signed during the November 2008 signing period, prior to his senior year of high school.[1] He attended Grandview High School, where in 2009 he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Missouri. His senior year he averaged 23.0 points per game, in addition to 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He was also named the Kansas City Star and Metro Sports Player of the Year during his senior year.
College
He scored in double digits every game his freshman campaign except for one where he suffered a knee sprain against Iowa State in the opening minutes. Became the first Colorado freshman to surpass 500 points in a single-season (512) and only the second CU freshman to lead his team in rebounding (5.0) since Matt Bullard (6.4, 1985-86). He was second in team scoring (17.1 ppg.) and field goals made (172); first in rebounding (5.0 rpg.) and FG% (.538); fourth in assists (53) and tied for second in steals (35). He started all 30 games that he played in. Missed one game (Kansas, Feb. 3) with a left knee sprain suffered at Iowa State (Jan. 30). His 150 rebounds is sixth highest total by a CU freshman. he scored in double-figures in 29 games. He recorded two double-doubles and had a season-high 27 points against Missouri (Feb. 6) with a season-high 10 rebounds twice: against Miami (OH) (Jan. 5), against Texas Tech (Mar. 10). He scored 20+ points eight times (CU won three of those). Led team in scoring in 12 games (three shared) and led team in rebounds in 14 games (four shared). Had 14 games with 18+ points, including eight 20+ point efforts. 23 games with at least five or more FGs.Led in scoring 12 times and rebounding 14 times (four shared).Shot over 50 percent from the field in 20 games and field goal percentage over 60+.
