License tagging for Image:Delano hitch.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Delano hitch.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:07, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as Goblu and Beatosu) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Mhking 21:04, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As opposed to what appears to be a nonsense article about two names that no one would search on, perhaps an article on road map copyright traps would have been a more appropriate title, and certainly one less likely to be construed as a nonsense article. There was no intent on offending, however, when something appears to be nonsensical, it is usually addressed quickly by myself or others who patrol for such things. --Mhking 21:25, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:UMars.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:UMars.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Is WQBR still on the air? I can't find any record of it in the FCC database, or any of the more common databases. JPG-GR 23:47, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CBEFT78.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CBEFT78.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wyoming incident

Deletion review states its purpose quite clearly, to review problems with the deletion process, not to act as AFD part 2. This would cover things such as the admin closing it apparently against the strength of argument, early etc. Your request was just "I don't like the outcome", coupled with "I don't like the guy who submitted it". As an aside if you do want to raise requests for reviews etc. then I suggest you drop the smart ass attitude, it adds nothing to your argument and in many ways just makes it look like you are trolling. --pgk 14:26, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So yes, you don't like the reason for deletion and you don't like that others agreed with it (at the RFA). As for threats, I think you are letting paranoia get the better of you, it's advice plain and simple, if you believe that behaving like a dick makes people sit up and think "hey that guy's making a really good point, I'll listen to him", then that's your business. I however fall into the opposite category and perceive such activity as not worth wasting my time on, as such unless you are willing to drop the attitude I can't see anything constructive coming from this exchange. --pgk 15:18, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Erm. I didn't delete the article, so the first question is moot. I am not backing any person, I am backing the way things work around here as a collaborative project. If there is a problem with the deletion process (say meatpuppetry) then you need to raise that providing relevant links etc., not merely an attack on the deletion nominator and a reason which boils down to I don't like that this was deleted. If you do have any significant evidence that there was a problem, you are also best to discuss with the deleting admin before taking to review. --pgk 17:24, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
