stub-sorting

Hallo, Good to see someone else attacking the backlog! (Multiple Association Division was on my watchlist after I PRODded it, and, as sometimes happens, by the time I'd PRODded it I forgot to stub-sort it, so I spotted it when you sorted it - it's usually impossible to know who else is working on them). I hope that the recent flood of stubs was a one-off catchup operation and once we've got it cleared we'll be back to the usual steadier flow. I tend to pick off the ones which look interesting in some way - likely to be in need of a DEFAULTSORT, or to check for incoming links, or part of a set in some way, and I always take care of any which file under "P". If 25 other people adopted a letter of the alphabet we'd keep them under control! Happy Editing! PamD 11:52, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

...And we've now got it down to below 100 for the first time in quite a while! Well done. PamD 23:44, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
... and now down to zero - though I see you last edited early this morning, and I'm sure I saw 48 or so entries in the list earlier today, so someone else has obviously blasted through a lot of them! Well done us all. Now we wait for the next bot to drag a batch of elderly untagged stubs into the category. PamD 21:53, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And I will be able to do some gnome-work on other areas I work on as possible. Rpyle731talk 01:13, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This Category seems to have the wrong description listed. I do not feel confident how to correct the problem. Rpyle731talk 03:23, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it! (diff). That's been that way since the category was created in 2008, so I think someone copy/pasted the template and forgot to change it. Thanks for noticing it! Howicus (talk) 03:56, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do I have the sort key and name field correct for this article? I have looked at the relevant manual articles, but wanted a second opinion. Thank you.

I have made some changes, following the precedent of Henry VIII of England. The {{persondata}} entry should be his name proper, not some sort key. The {{defaultsort}} entry doesn't matter all that much since we currently don't have articles on any other Wichmanns - if we had, I think your sorting and mine wouldn't have made much of a difference. Opting in to VisualEditor

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:14, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has replaced this article with a Spanish version. I do not feel comfortable doing a revert, would prefer a more experienced editor to make the fix. Thank you.

I assume this is IP vandalism, or perhaps just an incorrect edit. Not sure how best to proceed.

It may have just been a mistake. Either way, it's not constructive, so I just reverted it. That's what I'd suggest you do as well, if the edit is replaced. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 04:00, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of The Impossible Dream (game publisher)

Hello Rpyle731,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Impossible Dream (game publisher) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Tco03displays (talk) 04:42, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A couple of questions on the coord template I've added: would this be considered a type:waterbody as I have put, or should it be type:landmark? Also, is there consensus/policy as to where in the article the coord template is to be placed? I've seen it in several places in different articles. Thanks in advance. Rpyle731talk 22:07, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I checked a couple of other Chinese spring articles, and the only one which didn't use type:waterbody was primarily about a hill, not the spring. So that seems to be correct. Regarding the template's position, Template:Coord says: "Per WP:ORDER, the template is placed in articles after any navigation templates, but before any Persondata or Defaultsort templates, or Categories." So you did that correctly, too. Thanks for improving the article! Huon (talk) 23:10, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Meetup in San Diego?

Hi Rpyle731, I am Sebastian Wallroth from Berlin, Germany, board member of Wikimedia Deutschland. I am visiting San Diego from February 3rd to February 8th, happily invited to a wedding. I see that you replaced a direct use of a stub category with its stub tag on Black orientalism. Please note that the article in question had already been declared not to be a stub - in the previous edit, a user ChrisGualtieri said so explicitly in the summary while removing the stub tag. Please check for things like that in the future. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 16:44, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I missed that. Thank you for pointing out my error. Rpyle731talk 22:32, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is regarding your fixes on Indian childhood cirrhosis vide this edit wherein you have used author2 rather than coauthor in {{cite journal}} template. Could you please explain the rationale behind. Further, in case of more than one coauthors use author2, author3 and so on, better still last2, first2, and so on, and that too without capitalisation. Also look up WP:DATESPROJECT, Wikipedia:Date formatting and linking poll and Wikipedia talk:Date debate as a number of conventions are followed for date, none of which are thought to be wrong. DiptanshuTalk 14:25, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding was that the coauthor parameter was deprecated, so per my understanding, I changed coauthor to author2 (and author3, etc if needed.) As for dates, I was looking at articles with Category:CS1 errors: dates, and trying to follow MOS:DATEFORMAT. If I have made errors, I am sorry. Rpyle731talk 03:44, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was unaware that coauthors was depricated but when you use author2, make it a point not to include all the coauthors under author2 (which you have done in the case that I pointed out). I would strongly insist that rather than using author2, use last2 and first2. I will keep MOS:DATEFORMAT in my consideration. DiptanshuTalk 13:19, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Modifying and removing deprecated parameters might indeed be important, but I would invite you to and insist that you also participate in WP:CLEANUP, WP:COPYEDITORS, WP:TYPO and WP:WIKIFY. DiptanshuTalk 07:04, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CCLEAN also needs your help. DiptanshuTalk 07:06, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Music Factory, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Spinoff (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
